Following are several updates and resources for your use, as you work through implementation of COVID-19 requirements. 

Employee Verification Letters

We are providing a NEW UPDATED sample employee verification letter developed by Kahn, Soares, Conway for your use. The letter reflects the statewide Stay at Home Order issued by the Governor Newsom on Thursday. The statewide Stay at Home Order and its requirements supersedes all county orders. Ag, Food Processing and all suppliers are broadly covered as Critical Infrastructure.  We recommend you consider providing a letter to your employees and encourage them to carry appropriate ID. 

Families First Response Act 

We are providing a summary of the Families First Corona Virus Response Act just passed by Congress. The Act expands paid sick leave and also extends family leave. You will want to review this new law and forward to those who manage human resources in your operation.

Reminder: Upcoming Deadline to apply for Second Round of Coronavirus Food Assistance Program

A reminder that December 11 is the deadline to apply for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 (CFAP2), which was expanded to include rice grown in California. Due to COVID restrictions and staffing safeguards processing, applications may take longer than expected. The agency offers multiple options to apply which can be found on this website.  If you choose to sign up for CFAP2 through the Farm Service Agency, keep in mind that you can place your 2021 crop under loan at the same time.

New OSHA Covid-19 Emergency Regulations for Employers

See the attached review of significant new emergency regulations adopted by OSHA. The emergency regulations will go into effect when approved by OAL no later than November 30 and possibly earlier. They require a number of new mandates for employers which will impact rice including: employee testingreporting and record keeping and exclusion from the workplace for a positive test for 14 days.
