Armyworm Numbers on the rise

The weekly update from UCCE Rice Farming Systems Advisor Luis Espino indicates a growing armyworm population in the Sacramento Valley. Here’s his update:

Number of moths in traps has increased significantly, mostly in Butte and Glenn counties. Number of worms in fields we are monitoring is still very low, but could increase in the upcoming two weeks. Now is the time to increase monitoring, especially in rice planted in late May that may be heading now.
